Shards of A Stained-Glass Moving Picture Tale by Caroljean Gavin
"In Caroljean Gavin’s stunning, strange chapbook, girls ignite, accidentally setting their boyfriends on fire; they pull apples from their hair and earlobes, stalk frat parties, socialize with planets, and turn into fish. One character warns, “She says your truth is not appealing. Not one wants to pet your poisoned gown.” Menacing, sexy, and intoxicating, these stories sparkle and cut."
- Kim Magowan, author of 'The Light Source' (7.13 Books) and 'Undoing' (Moon City Press)
"In Shards of a Stained-Glass Moving Picture Fairy Tale, Caroljean Gavin unites fabulism and lyricism to create unforgettable tales of women in pain and power. Her singular imagination wields the force of revelation. I can’t wait to read more from this remarkable writer."
Jennifer Wortman, author of 'This. This. This. Is. Love. Love. Love.'
“These stories are always real, showing us the world with clarity, but they’re wrapped in loveliness, like a rock shimmering in a stream. Gavin holds beauty and pain easily in the same hand and lets us take it all in at once."
Aimee Bender, author of 'The Girl in the Flammable Skirt' and 'The Butterfly Lampshade'
